I purchased one of these circa 1970 and it was the finest sharpener I have ever used. I even used it to fine tune an axe. I was working construction (electrician), where I sharpened in excess of 50 knives for some of the guys. The edges were for coarse sharpening and the wide sides for fine. I had no hair on my arms from checking the sharpness. All I can say is; I wouldn't have another new one, even for free, nor would I recommend it to my worst enemy. Actually I might recommend it to an enemy, if I had one. What else can I say? I HATE IT.
